Menjelang Perkuliahan

Dear University of the People Student!,

As you know, the first term is about to begin on September 10, 2009.

We are sure that you are all excited about beginning this educational journey.

We ask only that you come on the first day with your great motivation to learn. There is no need to prepare anything else.

Approximately one week before the start of classes, you will receive your login and password to the University of the People Online Campus, via email. Once logged in, you will be able to explore the environment on your own – but you will not be given access to the course material (or assistance from your instructor) before September 10th.

It is your responsibility, as a student to have access to a computer with an internet connection for all your studies.

One of your first courses; ‘Skills for Online Learning’, will provide you with everything you need to know about working in the learning environment; from the functionality of the learning system through the principals of the learning model.

Please continue to check your email boxes regularly as you will be receiving more information tomorrow and over the coming days.

Thank you,

The Staff of University of the People

==================

Dear University of the People Students,

Following on from yesterday's email, we just wanted to ask for your assistance with something exciting.

We have had great support and interest from places like the United Nations and the media. As we get close to the start of the first term, the interest from the media is even higher – but now, the media is interested in speaking with YOU, our first students. This is a wonderful chance for us to reach many many people around the world who need to access tuition-free higher education.

Because of the ongoing media interest, we would like to build a list of students who are willing to help us tell our story to journalists and the media. There is absolutely no obligation for you to get involved in this activity. If you want to get involved, great. However, if you don't want to then that is equally fine.

Should you want to become part of this "student communicators" team all you have to do at this stage is to let the Student Services Department know by clicking reply to this email or emailing student.services@uopeople.org. Please ensure you include your full contact details including, name, address, email, telephone (home, work and mobile), Skype address or any other preferred method of contacting you.

Once we know of your interest, Rob and Daniela from the Communications Department will be in touch with you to talk about the next steps. We can't guarantee that everyone will get to work with the media - this will depend on which media approach us and what they ask for - however, we will do our best to find ways of using your valuable support. And remember, we will never give out your name or details to anyone without your permission. Equally, any information you provide to us will remain confidential unless you give us your permission for its use.

So, if you are interested, and we very much hope that you are, please let us know!

Thank you in anticipation of your support,

The Staff of University of the People
