Welcome to University of the People (UoPeople), the world’s first tuition-free university dedicated to the advancement of global education. UoPeople opens the virtual gates of higher education to anyone in the world on a quest for knowledge, transforming access to collegiate level studies from a privilege for the few to a right for all.

With twenty years of experience in the international education arena, I have witnessed first-hand the powerful impact technology has on academia. Drawing on the principles of e-Learning and social networking, coupled with open-source technology and courseware, UoPeople embraces a unique pedagogical model that is high-quality, low-cost and global.

A vessel for universal higher education, UoPeople has the enormous potential to function as a global stimulus package, reaching even the most remote places on earth. Our ultimate mission is to democratize higher education and, if the past few months are any indication, this is not merely a pipedream.

UoPeople has received an outpouring of support- from prospective students, academics, organizations and the media alike- and we eagerly look forward to what lies ahead.
